Welland Gliding Club and the Lyveden airfield is run by volunteers, everyone helps everyone else to fly.  

 

Whilst you learn to fly, as a member, it will be necessary for you to assist in the general running of the club including background tasks/work parties as well as tasks on flying days.

 

There are a multitude of tasks that are essential for the smooth running of a flying day.  (Full training will be given and as a member, you will be expected to assist with these activities).

These consist of:

• getting gliders out of the hangar in a morning

• washing gliders

• taking gliders to the launch point

• setting up the launch point

• assisting at the launch point

• logging flight launches and landings

• using the club vehicles to retrieve gliders (once they have landed)

• taking gliders back to the hangar at the end of the day

• Assisting with hangar packing and locking up
